Day 1 - Lunch on the Prickly Pear

After arriving on Wednesday, my sister and brother in-law had put together a boat trip the next day on the Wet Woody for us to Virgin Gorda and to Saba Rock in the British Virgin Islands. My brother in-law DJ used to run Saba Rock which is an amazing little resort off of Virgin Gorda. On one of our last trips we stayed here for a night but this was just a quick day trip. After a bit, we took a very short boat ride from Saba Rock to the Prickly Pear which is a tiny little island that only has one thing on it, the Sand Box Beach Bar. We had lunch and some drinks at the best beach bar that we have ever been to thus far but I think we will have to do some more research. Here are a few from lunch... (please pardon the quick edits as I am on an uncalibrated laptop) Stay tuned as there is more to come from the St John, USVI...

Playing with HDR...

Winter is in full effect and the days are pretty short here in Washington. I seem to wake up pretty early these days so I took a quick walk down to the Kirkland Marina this morning to enjoy a brisk winter morning. I have recently been playing around with HDR photography as it is always fun to learn something new. Here are some HDR images from this morning...

A walk in Juanita Bay...

This time of year in the Seattle area is usually grey and wet. It is very easy to feel trapped inside so anytime the rain lets up or we get a "dry-ish" day we try to get outside and enjoy natural beauty of the area. As we are dreaming of tropical climates, crystal clear water and white sand beaches, we took a walk with the dog and wanted to share some photos from a "dry-ish" day in Juanita Bay...
